Planning Ahead for 2019!

As we all gear up for a busy time over the festive period, the retailers are all hectic with shoppers running around and buying those last minute gifts for friends and family!  We have seen many new customers come in to the Pro Shop at Whitecraigs - members, visitors and people simply passing-by. Thank you for coming in and we appreciate your business!

This is also a time where we start planning for the year ahead - lots to plan and organise for the coming year.  As you know, one part of golf I'm hugely committed to is the development of junior golf.  With the recent launch of our brand new Junior Golf Development Academy, I was delighted to sign up some 30 new young budding players to our coaching programme!  The dates have been planned and secured for Block 1 in 2019 - an exciting year ahead!  What I will say is that it won't always be classes on a Saturday afternoon; I'll be mixing it up with the juniors out on our fantastic Par 3 course and working hard to get the older players ready to focus on their handicaps!

Turning to the younger membership in our WEE WONDERS - I'm delighted to confirm that I'll be running this programme next year specifically aimed at children from ages 5 to 11 years. Here are the dates below and the registration sheets are very much OPEN.  If you're thinking of signing up your child/children for golf, there's no better place than here with our very own Par 3 course!  It's a perfect environment for them to learn to play golf.   All Wee Wonders Membership enquiries should be directed through our office email:   This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..  Once you've signed up for membership, you will automatically qualify for this complimentary coaching.

We look forward to developing junior golf here at The Whitecraigs Golf Club!!

Time to put your feet up ? No chance !

winter-plan-for-2018

So, the leaves are all falling from the trees, the weather is turning - yes we get the odd nice day here and there but the temperature is dropping!  Is it time just to put the clubs away for the winter?  Is it time to take a break from golf?  Is it just 'too cold to play'?  I say, no chance.

Ok, so how have you played this year?  Have you actually reflected on that?  Maybe you reflect during the season or maybe you accept that you're an average golfer and that's the way it will always be.  Maybe you've had the season of your life and you're too scared to put the clubs away in case 'your form sllips'.
Maybe your season has been a poor one and you're left scratching your head as to where it all went wrong?

Has your driver 'gone off'?
Are you struggling fom 100 yards and in?
Are you taking too many shots to get out the bunker?
Is it your swing path?

Whatever stage you're at - I'll work with you throughout the winter and, together, we can make the improvements necessary!  Putting your clubs away for the winter will be a BIG mistake.

Turning to my own game - obviously, this year has seen a lot of change for me in terms of my job move BUT I've never lost the desire to play golf - in fact, I've missed playing this year.   I've not played as much given business commitments etc but whenever I get the chance for a game, I take it.  My game isn't perfect but I know exactly what I'll be working on this winter and, hopefully, plan to play a bit more on the Tartan Tour next year - that's my goal anyway.

My Winter Performance Plan has been running successfully over several years now and already, people have contacted me to sign up again, which is fantastic.  HOWEVER, this year, I've decided to limit the places available as I have to plan in the sessions and manage my time between winter coaching and my commitments to the pro shop etc.

This is a package tailored for YOUR OWN GAME - there's nothing standard about it - each player will have their own plan designed to suit them.  Whether you're a low/mid/high handicapper - whatever your goals are on the course, I'll work with you to tailor the coaching around your own objectives.

The package will be structured slightly differently this year and I'm working on the format as we speak but the main aim is focussed on working on YOUR OWN game!  The plan is to start in November and work through to March or April, depending on the analysis of your game which we can do together in the first session.

Please email me NOW if you'd like to sign up for it!

Junior Coaching

junior-coaching-1

That's us half way through our first block of the brand new JUNIOR GOLF DEVELOPMENT ACADEMY here at Whitecraigs.  I decided to set up this academy for the juniors who have advanced through the Wee Wonders programme or for other juniors (not necessarily members) to continue their golf development under my supervision.  This response has been great and thank you to all those who have signed up.

Saturday afternoons take on a whole new dynamic for me and I'm thoroughly enjoying working with all the juniors!  We have children of ALL abilities split into the different categories which make up our Academy.  It's the best way to engage with them if they're all at similar levels.  Their confidence grows and they lose their inhibitions - if they don't hit a great shot then it's no big deal!  The important thing is they're learning and engaging in the fundamentals of golf!   They are all progressing nicely!

This block will run until SATURDAY 13TH OCTOBER and then we'll break for the school holidays before we kick off Block 2 up until the beginning of December. I've got lots more planned for block 2 and we hope to see the juniors back for more.

If you're interested in signing up a junior and want to know more about my structured coaching, please contact me via email or by calling the Pro Shop on 0141.639.2140 and I can share details with you.
